Thomas Steigerwald Piano Recital

Native Uvaldean Thomas Steigerwald will perform a free piano concert at the Uvalde Grand Opera House on May 31, featuring Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no. 3 in D minor, with orchestral reduction played by Uvaldean Jason Schlichting on second piano. Mr. Steigerwald will begin the concert with solo works by Schubert and Chopin. Medal winner in numerous international piano competitions, he made his orchestral debut at age eighteen with the San Antonio Symphony and is alumnus of Eastman School of Music and The Julliard School, Mr. Steigerwald recently premiered Cosme McMoon’s concerto “Rondo Espagnol” with the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra of San Antonio and with the New World Symphony in Miami. His upcoming engagements include performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no. 3 with the National Repertoire Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado on July 26, in addition to performing orchestral and chamber piano with the orchestra’s eight week summer concert season.  In late August, Mr. Steigerwald will embark on a 23 cities tour of China with violist Brett Deubner and return in late September to his position as Piano Fellow at New World Symphony in Miami, where he regularly performs both chamber and orchestral works.
